An Open Letter to the President. Surely he will listen to this one. Another politically motivated, condescending piece of YouTube click-bait that undermines its recipient. President Trump will surely take this video into context and adjust his policy decisions toward a more favorable light. Right?

Then I actually watched the video. Bill Nye–who is every middle school substitute teacher’s favorite kids show educator to get thru a day unscathed–released a balanced, well voiced, and reasoned video to set out expectations and recommendations for the US Space Program.

As the CEO of the Planetary Society [a non-governmental, non-profit foundation for space and planetary science research, outreach and advocacy, founded by the one-true-science-god Carl Sagan in 1980, who’s mission is “to empower the world’s citizens to advance space science and exploration”, in other words, put a flipping human on Mars], Bill Nye has consistently been a face for climate change awareness, and a multi-generational voice for science enthusiasts.

I have my doubts that this will be heard by the #45 or his surrogates, but it’s a good reminder to the rest of us that the next discovery of a lifetime might just happen in our lifetime.
