This isn’t political. (lol). Of course it is. What isn’t in today’s news cycle and current events.

But isn’t that the dangerous point being made here? What is the saturation point that regular voters who might perk their ears up every so often when the polls come close to opening? A serious question: if you only ever turned on the news once every 12 months. Hell.. once every 6 months; how in the dark would one feel right about now? The news cycle is /insane/ with no signs of slowing.. and it’s all by design.

This new administration isn’t as dumb as their tweets, press briefings, or cable news appearances lead you to believe. This is part of their plan. Over-saturation, complacency, diversions, picking one’s poison.

What do you want to get enraged at this week? Is it the lack of testifying under oath of each of Kusnher, Don Jr, and Manafort regarding the Russian collusion allegations? (yea that happened this week). What about the administration’s illegal threats against Senator Lisa Murkowski for her decision to vote against party lines in the health care amendment debate? How about ‘the Mooches’ uncanny ability to become both the literal and figurative foot in the mouth of the administration during his first week on the job? (remember the Wall? Yea.. the house voted to proceed on adding funding for the wall in a budget proposal.. cool guys).

None of those? Well good. Because I’m most enraged about the blatant attacks on the LGBTQ community with Trump’s ill-advised (and apparently un-vetted) tweets regarding transgender participation in the United States military.

This is a president who claimed during his candidacy that he was a ‘champion’ of LGBTQ rights. Why? Why would we believe that? Because he held a god-damned rainbow flag (upside-down) at a rally? He’s a fraud. A fake. A salesman. He probably doesn’t even know what LGBTQ stands for, let alone being able to identify the actual strife and struggle those people face daily. And his family is every worse. Fuck you Ivanka. Your feigned support for LGBTQ despite your father’s apparent ignorance.. and yet during this week’s twitter tirade, you fell silent. Nobody voted for you, but at least some believed in you.

There are thousands of individuals serving in the military with more bravery than me. More bravery than most of us citizens that they protect. Especially more bravery than their Commander-in-Chief who thought that an early morning word-vomit of characters would be a suitable and respectable time to declare that these soldiers putting their lives on the line in foreign combat weren’t allowed to defend our country anymore.

It can be seen as hypocritical or opportunistic, I suppose. As a leftist progressive, I disagree with the size and scope of our military. I think our tax-payer moneys could be going to much more worthwhile causes, whether that being universal healthcare, infrastructure projects, or public education… But that doesn’t mean that civil rights should be disavowed. These are a literal spectrum of American soldiers that want to fight for our freedoms, and the freedoms of the oppressed around the world. How god-damned poetic.

And after news rose that “his military generals” weren’t even actually consoled regarding the policy change.. this is just another example of this schizo-president listening to the last person he ever talked to. In this case it was far right House Republicans who didn’t want to pay for transgender medical operations. Well, sorry guys (literally, just a bunch of old white guys).. if you want to spend 100 million on boner bills for your boys in uniform.. you can pay a few million for your thousands of brave soldiers who need medical operations or hormones to feel like themselves.

Trump’s tweets were cruel. A perfect example of how a businessman might run a country, where money is the underlying ruler of everything. He ended his three-tweet tirade with a simple “Thank You”. I think I speak for most of the rational public when I respond with a simple, “Fuck You”.
